Vivek Prakriya is a lifelong Redmond resident with a deep commitment to public service. 

 

He currently serves on Redmond's Human Services Commission as its youth advisor, helping the City support our most at-risk community members. Vivek attended LWSD schools (including Ben Rush and Redmond Elementaries in the city) up until college. He’s a familiar face at City Hall—often the last one left in the audience at Council meetings—and a regular volunteer at local homeless shelters.

 

Vivek wants to bring Redmond into the 2020s, ensuring that we aren't spending our city's money on outdated tech. As a Software Engineer at Data², a service-disabled veteran-owned startup using AI to transform the energy sector, Vivek brings firsthand experience in cutting-edge technology. His past research applied machine learning to quantum field theory simulations—where he used AI to identify subatomic particles.

 

In his free time, Vivek enjoys playing guitar, skiing, and cheering on the Seahawks. He also admits to playing chess—badly. In 2022, his Beatles cover band won Redmond’s Battle of the Bands at Derby Days.  

Vivek is finishing his studies at the University of Washington, where he’s pursuing a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics with a minor in Mathematical Physics. He also served as a Teaching Assistant for UW’s introductory computer science course, helping the next generation of students find their footing in tech.
